Our vision

We are a church:
Loving Jesus and one another;
Empowered by the Holy Spirit; With a world vision;
Reaching the community; Equipping and releasing everyone;
Increasing the Kingdom.

We are a church

‘you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.’ 1 Peter 2:5

We are a people of diverse cultures and backgrounds, united by God’s word, enjoying life and bringing positive change to everyone around us as we walk in the reality of loving Jesus, loving one another and living Kingdom life to the full.

Loving Jesus and one another

‘A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.’ (John 13:34-35)

Our love for Jesus is evidenced in the regular experiences that you will encounter in the King’s Church Epsomfrom the warm smiles and welcome, through to the strong arms of prayer and teaching support we offer through Jesus Christ, to the solid reassuring friendship and practical acts of help and kindness that we each give and receive in submission to God. We even have a regular Benevolent-giving Sunday, through which we are able to bless those who are in financial need.

We view each person as a valued part of our spiritual family and our aim is to touch everyone with God’s love always. We recognise that we are not always perfect in demonstrating His love, but we are glad that even in these weak areas, God is still being glorified as He continues to mould us into the perfect model of love that He is.

Empowered by the Holy Spirit

‘The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.’ (Luke 4:17-19)

God, who has called us, has also empowered us by His Holy Spirit and sent us out to bring his light into every life and situation in our community and beyond. We cherish and seize every opportunity to seek the fullness of the knowledge of that power of God in each life through prayer, worship and the study of the Word of God. We have seen the Holy Spirit transform lives, bring hope into hopeless situations and stir up His power in us to do great things, because we call upon Him. World Vision

‘Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.’ (Matthew 28:18-20)

Our influence extends to many parts of the country and to other parts of the world, whether in supporting a children’s home in Albania or in sponsoring orphans in Sri Lanka. We are passionate about preaching the Gospel and demonstrating the love of God to many people in far flung parts of the world. We have always maintained different sponsorship engagements with missionaries and evangelists around the world, notably in Papua New Guinea, Serbia and, until recently, Cambodia. Our members and leaders also regularly engage in short mission trips, often involving our youths as well, to different parts of the world, especially in Eastern Europe and Nigeria.

Community involvement

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and … he went around doing good and healing all …, because God was with him. (Acts 10:37-39)

We continue to build meaningful relationships and network with the community at various levels through practical initiatives which demonstrate God’s love throughout the Borough. We have members are involved in providing support to external youth clubs, mentoring schemes for disaffected young, prison visits, facilitating reading groups for the sight impaired, serving as school governors, and as Street Pastors in the local night-time economy.

Regular weekly activities for both church and non-church residents include a Mother and Toddlers club - Friday Fizz – at one end of the age spectrum, through to a Tuesday afternoon social club for adults – Tea & Chat - at the other end. There is also a club for children of primary school age – King’s Club – which is a social and fun gathering with some spiritual input. We regularly host seasonal activities, such as summer holiday club, for children. In terms of outreach, our Children’s and Youth Co-ordinator works with a vibrant team that runs weekly Bible clubs and supports many of the local schools with assemblies, classes and lunch time clubs.

Children and Young People

‘...These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home…’ Deuteronomy 6:4-9.

Children and young people are a vibrant and vital part of church life at The King’s Church. We embrace the idea that children, young people and adults can all have a meaningful relationship with God and experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit. We have a trained team of people who are committed to the development and support of our young people, and their families where needed. We run various groups-based activity clubs, bible studies and much more for all ages throughout the week. We also have ‘prayer parents’ for the children in the church. These are people within the church who commit to praying for a particular child on an on-going basis. There is also a mothers group that meets once a month to pray for all the children and youth in, or associated with the church.

We believe children should be given the opportunity to hear the Good News and respond in their own way. We are affiliated with Spinnaker which trains, equips and supports people who go into junior schools. We are passionate about supporting our local schools; we help by taking assemblies, running Christian lunch clubs, assisting with Religious Education and being on the Board of Governors where possible.

Equipping and Releasing Everyone

'Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know' (Jeremiah 33:3 ).

At King’s church, we aim to teach, train and equip everyone with a view to releasing them into the people that God has called them to be. We have different teaching and one to one discipleship/mentoring initiatives which are suited to anyone irrespective of their present station in life. Everyone is encouraged to share a word or express their ministry calling in a manner that can be a blessing to other, both in and outside the church.

Many of our members are actively involved in social, charitable and community initiatives (either as School Governors, Street Pastors, Prison Counsellors, Mentors, etc) in a practical manner that demonstrates God’s love. We currently support some of our members on full-time missionary engagements abroad and continue to encourage and support others, including our youth, on short term missionary trips, amongst other individual evangelistic initiatives.

Increasing the Kingdom

…‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:9-10)

As we partner with God in building His Kingdom, we continue to witness steady growth in all areas, including the diversity of the church. We have been blessed to witness many conversions and baptisms in/through the church from year to year. We continue to be a church with increasing impact in the community through various church and individual initiatives such as Street Pastors, foster parenting mothers and toddlers group etc. We have also seen an increase in the impact of the church both locally and internationally. We are not just a growing church but also a sending church. Some of our members have gone on to be pastors, teachers or missionaries in other places, seeking to carry on increasing the Kingdom of God. Of vital importance is the increase of the Kingdom of God that we continue to witness in each person as they abide in fellowship and worship with us over any period of time. Indeed it remains immensely rewarding to live the Kingdom and to share the Kingdom with all so that God’s will may be done on earth as it is in heaven.
