Update From Germany: May 2023

May2023 1

We are glad to be writing to you all again. Above is a picture of us in the lovely city of Berlin.

We are currently going through DMM training which is a discipleship program. To become full members of the Discipleship Organisation we work with, there is a requirement to be trained. It has been good so far.

May2023 2Ukrainian Welcome Centre:

Since the beginning of the War, many Ukrainians have had to make difficult journeys to Germany in fear for their lives. We saw this as an opportunity to help support them and eventually be able to introduce them to Christ. This led to the creation of the Ukrainian welcome centre by AN. All Nations or AN is the mission organisation we work with as mentioned in previously. Kemi and I belong to this Group and have been meeting many good people from Ukraine. We meet weekly, serving them food, supporting them with information needed to know their way around Germany and the government support in place for them. We also help too with places to stay overnight or for a few days before they go to the camp location. As part of the weekly activities, we pray, eat together, learn the German language and where the situation allows, share Christ with some of them individually. Through this process, some members of our team who could speak Ukrainian language have been able to introduce Christ to a few of them. This is great!

May2023 3Friedenskirche Church:

We continue to grow our network of friends within the church. We are meeting some wonderful people in the process. This is also helping our language knowledge. The church is doing well and growing gradually. New members were received recently by the church.

We have our first grandchild. We give all the Glory to GOD for his wonderful blessings.

Our German is getting better but we still have a lot to learn. We are still struggling to hold long conversations in German and our grammar combined with good sentence is still poor. We can see improvements but slowly. We thank GOD for helping us as we continue to do this. We still attend evening classes twice a week.

Kemi has had some sober and exciting moments while working at the Senioren residenz (Senior citizens home). We thank the LORD for keeping her through the challenges the work presents, both physical and emotional. In some cases, she had opportunities to pray and speak about Christ to some of the Bewohner (residents). Some are too weak to talk or respond, but she believes could still hear her and others who can hear and listen to her. She has had to do this discretely in some cases so as not to get in trouble at work but so far, the LORD has kept her. Some of those she ministered Christ to have left us but we trust they have gone to be with the LORD. As you all know, these acts are risky to do at the work place but we trust the LORD for HIS leading to know when to see an opportunity and act on it. It can be emotional sometimes because Kemi had developed good a relationship with some of them and then she gets to work later and is told they have died. Please continue to pray for her as we are beginning to see ministry opportunities like this due to the nature of her job.

The LORD has been faithful by helping us thus far to extend our stay. On a recent extension appointment, Kemi was given a two year extension since she has been working. Unfortunately, that was not the case for me. My stay was not extended beyond May 2023 for now because I am currently not in employment, even after quite a lot of effort. But we continue to put our trust in the LORD while working with employment agencies in the effort to find a suitable employment. Since my resident permit expired this month, I had to return to the UK for a few weeks while Kemi have stayed behind in Germany. I hope to return in June. Please pray along with us!

On a lighter note, great news, we have our first grandchild. We give all the Glory to GOD for his wonderful blessings. In conclusion, we can never finish this report without expressing our gratitude to Kings Church and to you all for your support, prayers and understanding. We feel the effect of your answered prayers in our lives. Our prayer is for the LORD to continue to bless you all in JESUS name. Amen!

Prayer:

  • Pray for a revival in Germany and Europe.

  • Pray for The LORD to intervene in the war as it is affecting standard of living in Germany.

  • Pray for us to continue to improve our language competence so we can do more and connect more with the locals.

  • Pray for me to get a job in Germany so I can meet the resident permit requirement, preferably in Hamburg where the main ministry activities are located. This will allow me to apply for the extension of my stay.
